Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz has expressed his bitter disappointment after an upsetting result in his new career venture.
The 39-year-old is returning for the reboot of the sitcom, also starring the likes ofBryan Cranston, but has turned away from acting in recent years.
Instead, he has been channelling Lewis Hamilton and pursuing race car driving, making his debut at NASCAR in 2021.
But after a tough competition at the weekend, Frankie said on X he was at a ‘new low’.
He wrote: ‘If I’m being 100% honest… Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low. Just wanted to say it out loud.’
Frankie made the disheartened comment after finishing in 23rd place at a NASCAR race at Rockingham over Easter.

However, in February, Frankie celebrated a more uplifting result after coming in 10th place at Daytona.

Fans were living for the post, and flocked to the comments below to heap praise on Frankie’s career change.

However, Frankie will now be splitting his time between the front seat and the TV set, after it wasconfirmed that Malcolm in the Middle will be returning.
The family sitcom ran for seven seasons from 2000 until 2006, and followed a dysfunctional working-class family in the US.
According to reports, Disney Plus ordered a four-part reboot.
The logline reads: ‘Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.’

Disney released no further details, including its release date, but its president of branded TV, Ayo Davis, teased the series would have ‘the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless.’
Original cast members are returning, including Bryan and Jane Kaczmarek, who plays the matriarch Lois, but the character Dewey has been recast.
He was played by Erik Per Sullivan, 33, who has quit acting and has rarely been seen in public since. Now the role is being taken on by Fargo actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.
